Brand & Collab Background

This KAI3 Craftsmanship (Patchwork) is the first official cross-brand cooperation between ANTA and iconic US sneaker boutique Sneaker Politics (based in Louisiana, USA) to mark Sneaker Politics’ 20th Anniversary, co-developed with Kyrie Irving’s full participation in design conception. Initially scheduled as an exclusive US-only limited edition launched on Mar.21 in Dallas USA, later released globally including China on Mar.28, named “Craftsmanship / Jiangxin (匠心)” in Chinese official release. Part of the collaboration’s profit was donated to renovate public community basketball courts in Dallas disadvantaged neighborhoods, carrying Kyrie & Sneaker Politics’ consistent commitment to local youth basketball charity and community culture inheritance.

Design Inspiration 
The whole design roots in African American traditional hand-quilt patchwork craft, a classic folk art originated from Black American history: Black female ancestors stitched leftover scrap fabrics into warm quilts to unite separated families and ethnic groups, each fabric patch stands for one independent community, combined stitching symbolizes unity, solidarity and ethnic heritage across groups.
Designer adopts delicate three-dimensional embroidery to simulate real patchwork sewing lines instead of raw fabric splicing, reproducing traditional handmade quilt texture on sneaker upper, interpreting craft inheritance via footwear design.
